We agreed that a quiet breakfast and sleepy midday was in order as we had planned a cooking class for the afternoon and evening. Cesarine is an Italy-wide organization that connects tourists with families or individuals who would like to host a cooking class. We were lucky to have been the first group to experience cooking on a beautiful farm estate just outside of Putingnano. Momma Paola and her daughter, Rosanna, treated us to a lovely tour of their home, which used to be a coal factory and then a school. Then we worked with them to learn how to make eggplant parmesan, orecchiette with a lovely tomato sauce, and a beautiful pastry with either ricotta cheese or jam inside. it really was a delightful afternoon and evening!

This is exactly the kind of experience Andrew and I cherish when we travel. We love to meet local people, learn about their everyday life, and get a “taste” of what is important to them and what nurtures them (soul and stomach!). Highly recommended….
Amen, Esther! It’s exactly the kind of experience we love, too! I will remember “Cesarine”. It sounds like a thoroughly enjoyable experience! So glad you two were able to share it together!
