This was our last day together with Noah and Dalia, as they were headed to the north island as we were headed to our biking adventure still on the South Island. We wanted them to see more of Queenstown attractions so we went to the upper part of Queenstown that is basically where the extreme sports are centered, You can do bungee jumping (although this was closed on our day), a luge ride, and parasailing. To get there, you take a gondola, and it drops you off at a plateau basically overlooking all of lower Queenstown. It’s well worth going up there just for the views.

Noah, Dalia and Kathy decided to try the luge which winds its way downhill then you take a ski lift back up to the top. It’s a bit like the bumper cars you find in amusement parks except they are not motorized and the goal is to NOT bump each other – rather navigate and control your speed manually. They said it was a lot of fun and came out unscathed.

Andrew and I decided to hike a small part of the Ben Lomond trail, which we’ve done before. The weather was beautiful and as we found all over the island, the wildflowers carpeted the hillsides.

Once we’d all had our fill of the high top amusements we headed into the central part of town to try the “famous” Fergburger. Perhaps not famous outside NZ, people line up for these humongous mouthfuls of beef patties with all the fixings. I have to admit, although I am not by any stretch a burger guru, these were pretty darned yummy. French fries (or chips as they are called here) were must-haves and they were great too. We had to fend off the local bird squads as we sat on the harbor steps munching away.
