I am sitting on my bed, dressed and packed at 8:46am…watching Roo trying to wake up. She has been a truly incredible companion – mature, self-possessed, sociable but able to be introspective while taking and giving space. I could not have asked for more. We have not only been on a physical challenge together, but a journey of the heart – and in our own strange mother-daughter way, we now have a greater understanding and appreciation of each other. I am hoping she feels the same.
We are heading to Amenal today – just about 20km and flat or downhill in the majority. We hope to meet up with Andrew there as he is flying to Santiago and cabbing backwards! It will be very special to do the last bit together.
