Our next stop was Sevilla, and it did not disappoint. Sevilla has a very unuque, very old world charm to it – lovely parks, rich historic architecture, very laid back Spanish feel. We did a fair amount of just wandering around to take in key sites, and the funniest episode was when Andrew went on a crusade to find the “Casa Judeo”…He was sure this was a hidden gem of a Jewish historical site (Hmmmm). In reality – after a couple of hours asking for directions, wandering windy streets and testing Eitan’s patience, we discovered that it was a forlorn and elusive little hotel. Bah humbug.
Some highlights…
Andrew and I had a quiet and very delicious dinner in Old Centro…and we actually got “paella no ojos”! Our running joke on this trip was that all fish seems to be served “con ojos” (with eyes) in Spain. We really wanted our seafood paella with langostino that didn’t look back at us…and the waiter accommodated 🙂

We had a dinner of amazing tapas at Coloniales – a Sevilla institution. Great beer, scrumptous tapas, and a very funny waiter who obviously knew how to treat and humor tourists. We discovered a very unusual structure in the middle of town they call the “Mushroom”. It cost millions of Euros to build and no one could tell us why it was built. We can only surmise that it was done as a tourist attraction (as we scratched our heads in amazement).

It was from Sevilla that we said adios to Andrew and Eitan – Ari and I stayed on for another bit of adventure before taking the AVE train to Madrid.

Parquet Maria Louisa and Plaza de Espana (the government seat) were the two most beautiful areas in Sevilla…
