I have to admit that I simply ran out of time and energy to fully describe the amazing rest of our adventure – what with being jetisoned back to our US reality, back to work, and the excitement of starting preparations for our relocation :).  So, to at least honor a sense of completion, the next few entries are an abridged version of the balance of our trip.

A Touch of Portugal

We decided that since Lisbon was not so very far from where we werein Don Benito that it made sense to at least do a quick look-see at this city with an illustrious history.   The maritime fame stamped on the city comes from the plethora of Portuguese explorers who discovered so much of the world we know today. We visited an incredible museum chock full of model boats of all shapes, sizes and historical significance, and strolled along the waterfront both on foot and by Segway passed incredible monuments to the explorers.  We also hiked up to a scenic vista and on to a former king’s castle, capping the day with a ride on an old mini cable car back down to town center.
