I truly believe that in honor of my nearly imminent departure from Zambia for this go-around, the powers that be decided last night to show me what African thunderstorms look and sound like. Hold your umbrellas! It was a whopper…thunder, lightening, and a pretty heavy downpour for probably 2 – 3 hours…we had to scramble to round up all the cats and bunnies and bring them inside and upstairs to the spare room that is the cats’ “play and potty” room. Marjory’s son, Bernard (the football player – the team – by the way – made it to quarter finals! 5 games out of 7 possible…way to go!), came by and we caught all the critters and got them set up with some hay, water and food to hunker down for the night. They sure made a mess overnight but they were safe and warm. While all the rain was going on, one of the kittens came and kept me company on my bed while I was trying to read…I think he/she was a bit scared of all the noise and I was happy to have the companion.

  1. We can hardly wait to hear about all these happenings when we see you in a few weeks. It all sounds as this has been a very meaningful and enriching experience for you and I suspect for all those who worked with you and lived with you. You are so very special and we think and talk about you more often than you imagine!!!
Maddie and Elliott will be joining us for Thanksgiving-we have so much for which to be grateful.
All is well here–busy with all kinds of activities–at this time mostly with our involvement with planning the celebration of Habonim’s 75th anniversary-a fund raising dinner and reunion on Nov.20th at the Sephardic Temple inLA.
Be well and return safely.Love and Kisses,Mom and Dad
